Choose between live or online audition

Applicants for 2-year master in performing music can choose between live or online audition.

Applicants can choose whether they want to meet for a live audition at the Academy in Oslo in week 8, or do an online audition. You need to state which variant you choose in your application.

  • Option 1: Live audition in week 8 (20th – 24th February)
    • Applicants who choose this option will be invited to a live audition at the Norwegian academy of Music in Oslo in week 8. If you choose this option, you need not submit a video in January.
    • The audition repertoire is self-chosen, but if you want to play with an accompanist from the Academy, you must play the repertoire listed under “Repertoire Requirements” below.
    • In the audition, you will be asked to play approx. 25 minutes. The jury will select from your audition repertoire. There will also be an interview about your project proposal and personal motivations for the study programme.
  • Option 2: Video audition and online interview
    • 15th January 2023: Deadline for submitting video audition links.
    • The audition repertoire is self-chosen but should be of 20-30 minutes and a difficulty level near equal to that of the repertoire listed under “Repertoire Requirements” below.
    • Approved applicants will be invited to an online interview in week 8 (20th – 24th February)

Guidelines for Project Proposal
You must write a description of the intended project. The description should be between half a page and one full A4 page long and must be uploaded into Søknadsweb before the deadline of December 15th. The Master’s degree project is intended as a performance-based project that showcases independence and artistic maturity in musical performances.

The project should have a clearly outlined topic/subject matter with clearly defined issues to be addressed. The description should involve which repertoire you wish to work on and explain how you intend to go forward to address the project. The project description draft is not binding but its purpose is to function as a good starting point for the Master’s degree project.

Suggestions for a Lay-Out Plan

  1. Working title.
  2. Description of the subject area/topic:
    1. Why does it interest you?
    2. How will you address the project?
    3. What can you and others learn from the work involved?
  3. Thoughts on potential repertoire
    1. List the repertoire you want to study during the master programme.
  4. How do you envisage completing the work?
    1. What sources can you use? Which professionals /specialist environments could you take advantage of?
    2. How do you envision the final artistic presentation?
