Exchange studies

Would you like to spend up to one year at the Barratt Due Institute of Music?

Since 2018 Barratt Due Institute of Music (BDM) has been a member of the ERASMUS community. We are glad to welcome students from our partner institutions in Europe to come study here at our academy.

The Barratt Due Institute of Music was founded in 1927 by the pianist Mary Barratt Due and the violinist Henrik Due, and has played central role in music education in Norway.

Drawing on a more continental frame of reference than usually found in Norway, children, young people and adult students are taught under the same roof, inspired by the founders’ motto: “From Music Kindergarten to the Concert Podium”

Barratt Due is the only music institution left in Norway with learning and education programmes for children, youth and adults all under the same roof. The academy offers music education at the highest level and dedicated professors and professional musicians offers the very best in your education.

European Student Card Initiative

European student cards issued by Erasmus+ are marketed as a support material to other student cards within Europe.

This is not the case with the Norwegian student ID cards and the Student ID app, respectively.

We strongly recommend all students to obtain both documents that legitimize their stay in the host country (both the European and the Norwegian student IDs).

Incoming students are also encouraged to have an approved Norwegian student certificate on the app, a physical card, as well as the “European Student Card”.

For more info on the European student card, click here.

Information about Norwegian student IDs can be found here

Foundation for Student Life in Oslo (SiO)

Students have to arrange for accommodation themselves. But we are of course happy to assist you in the process of finding suitable accommodation. As a student at Barratt Due, you automatically become a member of SiO which provides subsidized housing, healthcare, counselling, kindergartens, sports facilities and other services. When submitting your application for accomadation at SiO, specify that you are an international student at our academy.
