Barratt Due: From music kindergarten to concert podium

Indiviudal tuition

Children of primary school age are offered instrumental tuition and a string orchestra on the same level as the culture schools in Norway.

The Music School department is "hiring out" (meaning the teachers rent studios at the Institute), but it is all considered professionally under the umbrella of the Barratt Due Institute. The teachers themselves are responsible for all communication with their pupils, appointments and term fee. If one accepts a place at the Music School, one commits economically for a term. If a pupil for some reason would wish to leave in the middle of a term, they would still be required to pay for the entire term.

The only beginners accepted into the Music School are between the ages of 7 and 10 years old. Older beginners are not admitted, and pupils who have received their beginners' training elsewhere will be required to undergo a lesser audition in order to be offered admission. The main intake for the Music School is in August of each year.

The education in the Music School consists of, on average, 45 minutes of tuition per week, organised through different designs. The most commonly practised design is one 30-minute session per week and a monthly group session where the pupils play with other pupils of the same level.

The term fee for tuition at the Music School may vary, but is on average about 4500 NOK per term (45 min/week). The tuition starts around the 1st of September. The Music School is in step with the Oslo School's calendar regarding vacation and holidays.

Currently the courses are full and we do not accept applications at this time.
